Random post about housecleaning:

1. now that my old roommate has moved out and taken her nice fancy hoover vacuum with her, i thought it was time to pull the old circa-1980 iona speedvac from the back of the closet. the weird thing is, because the last time we used it was to do new year's cleanup, it was full of pine needles. when i turned it on it it made the whole house smell like christmas. i can't decide if this is awesome or disgusting.

2. discovered that no matter how diligent you are about cleaning your toilet bowl, it is all for naught if you neglect to clean your toilet tank. city water sediment smells bad, lemme tell ya.

3. finally bought a brita when i realized that it was the aforementioned city water sediment that was turning the water tray under my dishrack orange. i bought one of the ones that screws directly onto your tap, as our fridge is nothing more than a glorified bar fridge and doesn't really have the room for a pitcher. MAN OH MAN: if you haven't ever tried unscrewing the aerator on your faucet, i double-dog-dare you. you would not believe what that little seive can be storing up for your drinking pleasure.

4. cleaning is always more fun than studying for a final exam.

5. no matter how clean you think you are, there's always something you're neglecting that sounds disgusting when you tell others about it.
