Is there value in wanting to go somewhere you've never been, where you have not a friend in the world, where you have to start fresh and new and make an effort to build a web of people and activities around you until it feels like home?

Or is that desire for a fresh start just, as someone suggested the other day, merely a desire to run away from something?

I'm not suggesting cutting all ties, far from it. But is it really running away when you have nothing to run from? Is it a bad idea to run toward nothing and see what you can make of it? Just to see if you can, and what you would?
