I just saw a cat that had been hit by a car. It wasn't dead. It was lying there, legs moving, trying to run but it was on its side. I didn't know what to do. It was midnight. I have no gun. There is no vet at night. So I left it in the road. And I drove home and cried.

Should I have picked it up? Should I have beaten it to death? Was there something I should have done? Or was leaving it to be hit again the best thing?

I feel like an awful person. Weak. Powerless.

What a sad end to a good day.
