Cruel Summer

I've watched the movie Blue Crush twice in the last 24 hours. Quality cinema, lemme tell you. But the ocean, the sand, the sun - this whole 'winter' thing is getting just a little bit tiresome.

Plus, who couldn't like a movie that managed to bring back Ace of Base?

At the same time, my beautiful beautiful snowboard keeps calling to me from the corner of my room. What a waste of a Whistler pass. I really have to get my ass up there sometime soon. Especially because I was finally getting good this season... learned how to turn properly, and fairly consistenly, got up some speed and felt totally free. Flying down a mountain, top speed, rush of the wind in your ears, no time for thinking, overanalysing, talking. Just by yourself with the snow. If you really think about it, it's weird though. We're climbing to the top of a steep, cold mountain, and hurling ourselves down it on waxed sticks. I love being human.

Tonight I went for a walk and learned that empty parkades have better acoustics than the shower. A 3-part round of "Row, Row, Row, Your Boat" was inflicted upon the attendant. I'm sure it was the most entertaining part of her night.

I was intending to go to bed at 10:30 tonight. I can never make it before midnight. Cursed, I tell you.

listening: Ace of Base - The Sign
reading: finishing The Dharma Bums (Kerouac)
watching: Blue Crush
(I update too often for this part to keep up... it will be sporadic from now on)
