I really fail to see how one newspaper article can include all of the following statements:

"The victim, a [Killarney Secondary] Grade 12 student, saw a machete coming towards his head and lifted his hand to stop it, said [Vancouver Police Const.] Bloor. Three fingers and bones in his hand were sliced."

"The Killarney incident follows the stabbing of a girl Tuesday at Guildford Park secondary in Surrey, the stabbing of another teenager in North Delta during a swarming Saturday and the throat-slashing last week of a 16-year-old student at Rockridge secondary in West Vancouver."

"'British Columbia schools are amongst the safest places where kids can spend their time,' [Education Minister] Clark told reporters. 'But as long as there is any incidence of violence, they aren't safe enough. So we need to keep working on that.'"

Uh, yeah.

Oh, and let's not forget this one either:

"Const. Sarah Bloor, however, said senior investigators probed Alec's death and determined it was an accident and he was not being bullied by the duo [...] She added the boys were horsing around and there was no criminal wrongdoing. 'One of the boys said to him, 'I am going to light you on fire with a firecracker' and the younger boy went 'Oh, no' and the other one just walked toward him just casually and the other boy [Alec] just took off running,' Bloor said. 'He arrived home and collapsed. There was no bullying incident.'"

Uh, right.
